Local Students Honored with Water Environment Research Awards For Outstanding Water-Related Science Fair Projects

Morrow, Georgia – – The Clayton County Water Authority (CCWA) Board of Directors recognized students from Anderson Elementary, North Clayton Middle, Jonesboro High and Elite Scholars Academy for their outstanding water related science fair projects during its March 7 Board Meeting.

For 25 years, CCWA has provided judges to the Clayton County Regional Science & Engineering Fair held every February. During the fair, CCWA staff serving as judges select outstanding water related projects.

“We are extremely proud of these students for their water-centric projects and their research into topics also studied by water professionals,” adds Chief Operating Officer Keisha L. Thorpe. “We hope their projects peak their interest in water, opening the door to future careers as water professionals.”

Novice Award Recipients:

World Saving Systems:  How can you make rain water safe for humans? 

Jabari Daniel, Christian Moss, and Alexander Williams – Anderson Elementary School

These young men researched a question that many have pondered. This winning project team will also compete at the Georgia College K-5 Science and Engineering Fair in Athens, GA in April.

 Junior Award Recipients:

What products can we create to help those affected by disaster?  

Mekhi Cunningham and Oluwatimileyin Idowu – North Clayton Middle School

This project was innovative and has potential for future development.

 Senior Award Recipients:

The Impact of Fertilizer on pH and Dissolved Oxygen

Kyleigh Conley – Elite Scholars Academy

Kyleigh will compete in the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair in Athens, GA in April and the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles in May.

Stephanie Ezenne – Jonesboro High School

Stephanie will compete in the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair in Athens, GA in April and the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles in May.
