Water Service Line Inventory Project

Clayton County Water Authority is in the process of completing an inventory of water service line material throughout the county. The service line is the pipe that connects the house or building to the water meter, which is owned by the customer. CCWA’s service line connects the water meter to our water main. Service lines may be made of copper, lead, galvanized metal or plastic.
To verify the type of material at your property, we will be spot digging at selected water meters in various locations throughout the county. This will not disrupt water service and should not take long. We will restore any area that is disturbed.
This inventory is required as part of the U.S. EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule Revision that requires any lead service lines to be identified by October 2024. Our inventory results will be submitted to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) in October and published here on our website.
