May 3, 2024 – (Morrow, Georgia) – Clayton County Water Authority’s (CCWA) Board of Directors recognized students from M.D. Roberts Middle, Adamson Middle, Rex Mill Middle and Elite Scholars Academy during its May 2 Board Meeting for their top scoring model water towers.
Students being honored earned the top awards during CCWA’s 6th annual Model Water Tower Competition which took place on March 13. The competition provided sixth-grade students from Mundy’s Mill Middle, Elite Scholars Academy, Eddie White Academy, M.D. Roberts Middle, Adamson Middle, Babb Middle and Rex Mill Middle the chance to design and build working model water towers. Each school held a preliminary competition, then advanced their top towers to the CCWA competition.
The March 13 competition featured 26 students who designed and built working water towers. The day of the competition, students took their towers through test stations for materials, dimensions, and hydraulics, followed by interviews with a three-judge panel. Scoring then determined the top towers.
This year’s winning towers include:

The mission statement for the competition is: “From Today’s Youth Come Tomorrow’s Leaders – Let’s Lead Some To The Water Profession.”
The Georgia Association of Water Professionals and the Georgia Section of the American Water Works Association started the competition more than 13 years ago.
