Clayton County Water Authority Receives Industry Recognitions

December 9, 2024 – (Morrow, GA) Employees of the Clayton County Water Authority (CCWA) were recognized with five awards at the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) Fall Conference last month.

CCWA General Manager H. Bernard Franks expressed pride in his team’s achievements, both individually and as a department. “Clayton County Water Authority remains a proud, award-winning utility, committed to delivering quality water and services to our community. We continuously strive to improve and uphold Clayton County’s reputation as a hub of innovative servant leadership,” he added.

Customer Service Award

CCWA Customer Service Manager Catrina Tanner was honored with the Customer Service Award. This award is presented to an individual who has distinguished themselves by demonstrating excellence in customer service or who utilized innovation to develop an efficient operational process which resulted in a positive and memorable experience for the customer.

According to CCWA Customer Accounts Director Rodney Perkins, Tanner was nominated for her ‘exceptional professionalism, responsiveness, and dedication, which have had a profound impact on both our customer relations and the overall success of our utility. Through her consistent efforts, Tanner has played a critical role in driving the successful implementation of our new payment strategy, including the implementation of our Kiosk systems – a project that has significantly enhanced the customer experience. Catrina’s unwavering commitment to excellence, coupled with her ability to navigate complex challenges, has set a new standard for future initiatives.’

Laboratory QA/QC Gold Award, Water Lab Serving Greater than 100,000

CCWA’s Terry R. Hicks Water Production Plant Lab Staff earned its 1st Gold Award, scoring 95.0 or higher. This award recognizes outstanding quality assurance programs.

Laboratory QA/QC Platinum Award, Municipal Wastewater System greater than 20 MGD

CCWA’s W.B. Casey Water Reclamation Central Lab earned its 5th consecutive Platinum Award, scoring 95.0 or higher. This award recognizes outstanding quality assurance programs.

Distribution System Excellence Award

Distribution Maintenance staff earned its 6th Platinum Distribution System Award. Water distribution system programs focus on maintenance of the water lines that deliver potable water from CCWA’s system to homes and businesses. This award recognizes excellence in management, operation and maintenance of their water distribution system. Utilities must earn a quantitative inspection score of 95 or higher for five consecutive years to earn a Platinum Award. CCWA staff maintains approximately 1,500 miles of water lines throughout Clayton County.

Collection System Excellence Award

Conveyance Maintenance staff earned its 10th Collection System Platinum Award. This award focuses on utilities that strive to continually improve their systems through proper management, maintenance and operation. This includes preventative maintenance, system evaluation, rehabilitation programs and training. Utilities must earn a quantitative inspection score of 95 or higher for five consecutive years to earn a Platinum Award.

 Awards were presented during the awards luncheon on November 5. GAWP is the State’s premier professional association for water, wastewater, stormwater and related issues. GAWP was founded in 1932 and started the first license program for water professionals in Georgia.
