CCWA’s HR Staff Earns Three Industry Awards including ‘HR Team of the Year’
December 13, 2022 – (Morrow, GA) – Clayton County Water Authority’s (CCWA) Human Resources Department was recently awarded three industry awards for its significant contributions and achievements in human resources management.
Awards include:
- Georgia Council for Human Resources – 2022 HR Excellence Award – HR Team of the Year
- Georgia Local Government Personnel Association – 2022 HR Agency Award of Excellence
- HRO Today, a globally recognized association for both private and public sector employers – 2022 Innovation in HR Award and HR Team of the Year (finalist)

CCWA’s HR Department is made up of seven team members under the leadership of Henderson, who oversees an operating budget of $3 million annually with funding allocated towards employee engagement, benefits, training, safety and risk management, incentive programs, events and activities. The team is dedicated to partnering with CCWA leaders to maximize the potential of their greatest quality – employees.
Since 2020, the HR team has implemented several successful programs that positively impact employee experiences throughout the authority. These include: a revamped New Hire Onboarding experience, the HR Drip podcast to keep employees ‘in the know’, innovative training cohorts to ensure all levels of employees receive appropriate and customized training, a revamped Safety Program, robust benefits and wellness programs, a revamped employee recognition program, introduction of the ‘Leadership Roundtable’ for every level of leadership to share success stories and ask questions, a revised HR policy manual, transitioning performance evaluations from paper to online, and documenting more than 40 standard operating procedures and business processes to encourage cross training and knowledge retention.
