Plan Review Technician Catherine Samay

Meet CCWA’s Plan Review Technician Catherine Samay. Catherine reviews development plans to ensure water, sewer and stormwater regulations are met; reviews roadway projects to determine how existing water and sewer lines are impacted and resolves conflicts; assists customers with meter quotes and questions about connecting to the water and ewer system; and coordinates with other city and county departments for development. She works with engineers, designers, county and city staff and the Georgia Department of Transportation. Currently, most residential development is in the City of Lovejoy while Fort Gillem and Anvil Block Road areas have a lot of commercial/industrial development. Catherine says Clayton County government has some interesting projects where they are installing pervious pavers, gardens and raised planting beds, splash pads and more trails.

Getting to see what developments are coming to Clayton County and its cities long before ground is broken is one of the things she enjoys most about her job. She also likes to see how engineers address stormwater treatment so there are no negative impacts to our citizens and the county’s natural resources. Stormwater best management practices play a large role in her job. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals’ Stormwater Committee.
