Behind the Tap Spotlight: Procurement and Contract Specialist Susan Angelo
Meet Procurement and Contract Specialist Susan Angelo. Procurement plays a key role in making sure Clayton County Water Authority (CCWA) gets the goods and services it needs—whether that’s chemicals, construction work, or professional services—in a fair, transparent, and cost-effective way. Susan handles finding vendors, running bids, reviewing proposals, and setting up contracts, all while ensuring everything follows CCWA policies and state requirements.
Susan keeps CCWA running smoothly behind the scenes, managing contracts, vendors, and department needs. Her mornings usually start with checking deadlines, reviewing contracts, verifying Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and bonds, and supporting departments with scopes of work, evaluations, and procurement questions. She also updates templates, refines Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensures compliance with CCWA policies and state requirements.
“What I love most about procurement is that there’s always something new to learn,” Susan says. “The most rewarding part is knowing my work helps departments get what they need efficiently and responsibly.”
She admits that learning CCWA’s processes has been a challenge, but it motivates her. “Coming from a centralized procurement background, I’m passionate about introducing more efficient practices and helping move CCWA toward best practices and a streamlined process.”
Since joining CCWA in July 2024, Susan has led the implementation of our new e-procurement system, keeping bids and proposals organized and transparent. She also serves on the CCWA Uniform Committee, helping choose styles and colors for staff clothing.
Outside of work, Susan enjoys reading and taking naps—a perfect way to recharge and stay ready for whatever comes next. #waterprofessional
