CCWA Earns Awards During State-Wide Conference
July 29, 2024 (Morrow, Georgia) – – Clayton County Water Authority (CCWA) employees earned several individual honors during the Georgia Association of Water Professional’s (GAWP) annual conference awards ceremony on July 14.

GAWP Elizabeth McEntire Award – Chief Operations Officer (COO) Keisha Thorpe
CCWA COO Keisha Thorpe was honored with the Elizabeth McEntire Award, which recognizes a person for excellent achievement in the direct operation of water supply, water treatment, and/or water distribution system. This award is presented to a member of the Association who has excelled in the operation of a public water system in the state of Georgia.
Georgia Section of the American Water Resources Association’s (GAWRA) Stormwater Professional Excellence Award for Public Sector – Large – Stormwater Director Kevin Osbey
Stormwater Director Kevin Osbey was honored with the Stormwater Professional Excellence Award for Public Sector – Large for his outstanding performance, professionalism, and contributions to the stormwater profession. It is presented to GAWP individual members and recognizes outstanding achievement in stormwater design, stormwater management, watershed management, green infrastructure, contributions that have been beneficial to the nominee’s facility and/or innovative initiative or performance beyond the call of duty.
GAWP Honorary Membership – Chief Executive Officer H. Bernard Franks
CCWA CEO H. Bernard Franks was recognized with an Honorary Membership. According to GAWP, this honor is for ‘a person of acknowledged eminence in one or more fields of the water profession’.
GAWP Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers (5S) Inductee – Communications & Community Relations Director Suzanne Brown
Communications & Community Relations Director Suzanne Brown was inducted into the GAWP Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers (5S). The purpose of the 5S is the betterment of GAWP and the promotion of its objectives. 5S is an invitation-only organization, and selection for membership is considered a high honor. Members are selected based on personal merit as 5S membership serves as recognition of long and faithful service to GAWP.
