Clayton County Water Earns National Financial Reporting and Budgeting Awards
July 24, 2025– (Morrow, GA) – The Clayton County Water Authority’s (CCWA) Finance Department recently received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and Distinguished Budget Presentation from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
According to GFOA, the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This award encourages state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure. This is the 37th year CCWA has earned this recognition.
The Authority also earned GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation for the 19th year. In order to receive this award, the entity had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. The award for the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 budget includes Special Recognition for Performance Measures and Long-Range Operating Financial Plans. Special recognition is given when all three reviewers give the highest possible score in particular categories.
