Behind the Tap Spotlight: Sr. Meter Services Technician Jhamiel Hendricks
Meet Sr. Meter Services Technician Jhamiel Hendricks. Jhamiel plays a vital role in keeping our Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system in top shape, fixing and replacing parts when needed. His day-to-day work involves disassembling meters, repairing or swapping out parts, and installing and troubleshooting radio-read meter technology. Jhamiel is skilled in connecting electronic registers (devices that turn water usage into digital readings, making it easier to track water consumption accurately) and radio devices, using specialized tools like the Trimble Ranger 7, a handheld device that is used for programming, reading, and managing AMR systems. This tool helps him ensure everything is set up correctly for each type and size of meter, guaranteeing the accuracy and reliability of our system.
Beyond his technical skills, Jhamiel also trains Account Service Representatives, Meter Readers, and AMR technicians, ensuring they follow the proper steps for testing and repairs. He keeps detailed records of his work and assists with water meter readings when needed.
When I asked Jhamiel about the challenges he faces in his role, he shared, “To be honest, I don’t really have any challenges that I haven’t faced already.” He added, “I like the autonomy that I have and being able to interact with a variety of people and personalities. There’s always so much to learn in the field.” Jhamiel also mentioned that he enjoys his position and hopes to become a supervisor one day. “I want to continue guiding others to achieve their goals within the company,” he said.
Jhamiel recently celebrated his six-year anniversary with CCWA on October 1, and he’s looking forward to many more years here. When he’s not working, you can find him working on his 1989 Mustang and tackling home improvement projects. #waterprofessional
