Statement Regarding Disconnection of Water Service At Tara Woods Apartments

July 6, 2023 (Morrow, Georgia) — The Clayton County Water Authority (CCWA) will disconnect water service at Tara Woods Apartments/Red Apple Investments located at 661 Sherwood Drive, Jonesboro on Monday, July 10 due to its past due balance of nearly $98,000.

CCWA has tried unsuccessfully to work with Red Apple Investments since July 2022 to pay its past due balance to avoid interruption of service. Despite numerous attempts, and Red Apple receiving CARES Act funding in the amount of $15,305.00 on July 18, 2022, Red Apple has an outstanding balance of $97,973.01. CCWA notified residents of the potential for disconnect on June 14.

“It is never our desire to disconnect service for any of our customers,” says Clayton County Water Authority CEO H. Bernard Franks. “We attempt to work with multi-family complexes to maintain service and have been working with Red Apple Investments for a year to get this resolved.”

CCWA is coordinating this action with the Clayton County Fire Department and Clayton County Code Enforcement.
