Jim Poff

Assistant General Manager - Operations


Jim Poff has 30 years of professional experience in the water environment. His career started while attending the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. While in college, he accepted a Laboratory Technician position with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District.

After college, he moved to Georgia in 1988 to take a Chemist position with Clayton County Water Authority. In 1994, he was promoted to Laboratory & Environmental Compliance Coordinator, and in 2002 was again promoted to Manager of CCWA’s Water Reclamation Department. In this position, he managed a department with 54 employees, 270 million dollars in capital assets, and an annual operating budget of 13 millions dollars.

In February 2014, Poff was promoted to Assistant General Manager – Support Services. As the Assistant General Manager of Support Services, he oversaw support services with includes customer service, finance, program management and engineering (stormwater), risk management and public information. In January 2017, he was named Assistant General Manager – Operations, where he oversees CCWA’s water production, water reclamation, distribution and conveyance and general services departments.

Poff has authored and presented numerous papers on various water reclamation topics. He also serves on several technical committees on the state and national levels in organizations including Georgia Association of Water Professionals, Water Environment Federation, Association of Boards of Certification, and “Standard Methods” Committee.

Jim is married to Melinda and they have two daughters (Lindsey & Kaylee). His hobbies include Tennis, Golf, and working in the yard.
