Jim Poff

Assistant General Manager - Operations


Jim Poff has over 33 years of professional experience in the water utility business. His water industry career started as a University of Wisconsin college intern lab analyst. While in college, he worked as a laboratory analyst at the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District.

He moved to Georgia in 1988 to take a Chemist position with Clayton County Water Authority (CCWA). While at CCWA he has also held the positions of Laboratory & Environmental Compliance Coordinator, and Water Reclamation Department Manager in charge of all wastewater treatment operations.

In February 2014, Poff was promoted to Assistant General Manager of Support Services. In this position he was responsible for all CCWA support services functions including Customer Service, Finance, Engineering, Information Technology, Risk Management (Safety & Security), and Public Relations. In January 2017, he was named Assistant General Manager of Operations, where he oversees CCWA’s Water Production, Reclamation, Distribution, Conveyance and the Storm Water Utility functions.

Poff has authored and presented numerous papers on various water utility topics throughout his career. He currently serves on several technical committees on the state and national levels in organizations including Georgia Association of Water Professionals, Water Environment Federation, and the Water Research Foundation.

Jim is married to Melinda and they have two daughters. His hobbies include tennis, golf, and travelling with the family.
